Fillings
A filling is used to replace or restore a tooth that is damaged from a cavity or a fracture. Today’s advances in dentistry allow for the use of state of the art tooth colored resins that make unsightly black fillings a thing of the past. All of your old and damaged amalgam silver fillings can be replaced with white bonded composite fillings. White fillings have many advantages over the older amalgam versions. White fillings are mercury free, and because they bond to the tooth a white filling:
- Is more conservative because it requires less tooth removal
- Strengthens the tooth and makes the tooth less prone to fracture
- Greatly reduces hot and cold sensitivity
Finally, white filling composites are preferred by most patients. This is due to the natural color, strength and overall appearance and feel. Back to top

Implants
Dental implants are ideal for the replacement of a single tooth or multiple teeth. Made from titanium, the implant post replaces the root of the tooth which then supports a natural looking restoration. Implants are conservative since they allow the replacement of teeth without relying upon a neighboring tooth for support. Implants have been used for many years predictably and successfully. Once placed in the bone they become integrated and can last a lifetime. They can also be used to support a fixed bridge or offer support to a removable denture or partial denture.
Dental implants offer significant benefits and an outstanding level of satisfaction. Thinking about implants, set up a complimentary consultation in our office for the replacement of any missing or broken teeth. Dr. Ramirez will be happy to discuss your dental implant options. Back to top

Crowns
Crowns are used for teeth that are damaged beyond what a composite filling can repair. They can also be used to restore a broken tooth or to hold a fixed dental bridge in place. In cosmetic dentistry, they can be used to cover a discolored tooth when a veneer won't provide adequate coverage.
Crowns are made of a variety of different dental materials as porcelain, gold, acrylic resin or a mix of these materials. Porcelain has the most natural appearance.
The process of making a crown involves several steps. The tooth is prepared by removing any decay and reshaping the tooth to allow for the dimensions of the crown. An impression is taken and sent to our superior dental laboratory where your new restoration will be created. In the interim, a plastic temporary is made that resembles your natural tooth and allows you to continue with your daily life.
Then, placement of your crown is completed. Any required adjustments to the fit of the crown are made. Once the crown feels like your natural tooth it is cemented. Back to top

Fixed Dental Bridge
Extensive decay, advanced gum disease or traumatic injury can lead to the loss of a tooth or teeth. The replacement of these missing teeth is necessary in order to maintain proper chewing and support of the facial muscles and your bite. Tooth loss can affect the way you eat, speak, and the alignment of other teeth in your mouth. A bridge is one of the options available when deciding how to replace a missing tooth or teeth.
A bridge is a fixed cemented permanent denture designed to support prosthetic teeth (pontics) between two healthy natural teeth. They may be placed in the front or sides of the mouth.
With today’s technology bridges are more natural looking, longer lasting and easier to place. Like crowns, bridges are made of similar materials and follow a similar fabrication process.

Removable Partial Dentures
When missing multiple teeth, speaking clearly and chewing can become difficult. At times appearance and facial support may become compromised. A removable partial denture offers a fast and inexpensive alternative to a fixed bridge. The prosthesis is a metal framework supported by the remaining teeth. Conventional clasps can be replaced with hidden precision clasps, improving the appearance of the patient. Done properly, a fine removable partial denture can fit very solidly and comfortably in the mouth preventing the need for denture adhesives and clasp tightening. Back to top

Dentures
Unfortunately some individuals have not had the opportunity to save their natural teeth. Complete or full dentures is a good prosthesis for teeth replacement. Complete dentures rely on the soft tissue that covers the bones in the mouth for support. Implants can be used with dentures to improve their stability. Back to top

Endodontics (Root Canals)
Root Canal Therapy is NOT the painful treatment everyone believes it is. Actually, root canals are similar to having a cavity filled, producing very little discomfort. More importantly they can save your tooth.
When a cavity or traumatic injury has caused extensive damage to the tooth structure and the pulp of a tooth our dental team can perform a root canal (or endodontics) to preserve the tooth. The damaged pulp is removed from the central part of the tooth and the roots. The inside of the tooth is reshaped, cleaned and filled. The tooth is then ready to be restored to its original integrity, saving it from being lost forever.
